About

Kognito offers research-proven training simulations designed to prepare educators, staff, students, physicians, and caregivers to: (1) recognize when someone is exhibiting signs of psychological distress or underlying trauma and (2) manage a conversation with the goal of connecting them with the appropriate support.

In these online courses, users engage in practice conversations with virtual humans. With the help of a virtual coach, users learn effective methods for engaging in difficult conversations, including applying motivational interviewing skills, asking open-ended questions, and avoiding common pitfalls. These conversations address chronic disease, PTSD, behavioral health, suicide prevention, substance abuse, screening and brief intervention and social change, among others, and provide users with a low-risk environment to practice conversations hands-on.

Kognito's programs are the only digital simulations listed in the National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices (NREPP). Twelve courses are listed in the SPRC/AFSP Best Practices Registry.

Important Information RE: free access to Kognito simulations for Texas educators!

Please note that as of December 31, 2016, the state of Texas is no longer funding free access to At-Risk for High School Educators and At-Risk for Elementary School Educators. However, Kognito is temporarily providing continued access for Texas schools to all PK-12 simulations through April 30th, 2017 so as not to inconvenience districts that have planned their professional development anticipating the continued availability of Kognito simulations. At Risk for Middle School Educators will continue to be available at no cost through August 31st 2018.

We are looking for a sponsor to continue to make these simulations available statewide at no cost, meanwhile, please contact evan.hennessy@kognito.com to discuss licensing options for the the 2017-18 school year.
